Decorating the interior of your house can be an exciting thing to do. Yet, there are at least two common mistakes home owners tend to make when it comes to interior decorating. Such mistakes often give the room an unpleasant look.

Over crowding is the most common mistake people make in interior decorating. This is because many people think that more decorations, elements and furniture would mean better appearance. Although it is great to make sure that you do not have so many unused spaces in your living room, there are times that having many pieces of furniture in a room can crowd people out. Thus, it is better to stick to the basic living room furniture such as coffee table, a sofa, and entertainment center. All you have to do is to make sure that these pieces of furniture are large enough to fill in your living room space while allowing enough room for people to walk around.

The next common mistake is the application of too much personal touch. It is your home, indeed, your guests are aware of that fact. Thus, there is no need to fill your house with so many pictures of you. Adding personal touch to a room doesn’t just mean posting your pictures, awards, and trophies. It can mean adding elements in the room that you personally like such as an aquarium, curtains of your favorite color or a scented candle of your choice.
