Dealing with Squirrels

As cute as they can be when portrayed in cartoon shows and animation movies, squirrels can be pesky pests in some neighborhood. One of the most common concerns of homeowners is that squirrels are messing up their gardens and eating bird feeds.

The most common problem of people with squirrels is that these animals like to get into their trash cans. Some may even be more aggressive that they chew through the plastic garbage bins just to get inside. This is because they are attracted to the many tempting smells of the various contents of the garbage bins such as left over foods. Once the squirrels already know that the garbage bin in your yard is a good food source, you can expect that they will keep coming back for more and eventually, they will be munching on other things aside from your household garbage such as your garden plants and flowers.

In order to prevent squirrels from becoming pests, it is advisable to invest on tin garbage bins with lids that seal so these animals cannot chew through it or climb up into them. There are also different kinds of rodent and spicy repellents available in the market today that can help keep squirrels away from your yard.
