Miss America 2005 Promotes Hearing Loss Education
in Cincinnati
Deidre Downs, Miss America 2005 threw out the first
pitch at the Cincinnati Reds game on August 12th.
After the game, Miss America and GN ReSound hosted
the annual Children’s Hospital Audiology Department
Picnic at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
Medical Center Division of Audiology.
Living with a hearing loss herself, Deidre shared
with families and students what it takes to overcome
hearing loss and today’s best solutions for
treating the condition. She was born with a hard-to-treat
genetic form of hearing loss that has affected her
since kindergarten. Deidre is enrolled in her second
yeard of medical school at the University of Alabama
and wears ReSound Azure hearing instruments.
